This is a 2nd Report by Corinne Jeker, who currently works in the Rhein-Valley Hospital goes
The time and so it happens that I have more than two months in hospital work. Always I am still fascinated and every day an adventure. In the hospital there is always something to do. So, I was lately engaged the medical records to sort and collect electronically. 'm Obviously far from complete, but there are more than 10,000 patients and recorded each day there is more. Am sure that William's secretary while another is busy!
Again, much administrative work takes time and needs support Patience and control of Ruth Schaefer, who runs the company! With the able and patient kind of Ruth are all always willing to evaluate their work and to learn something new. Daily life in the hospital is often under the motto "explain". Time and again instructions are Ruth and informs the way it should. Of course, it turns very often about cleanliness and organization. The patience that Ruth creates the day is huge! Often with success! So it's nice to see that the statements bear fruit, and the changes that Ruth asked to be implemented. As the saying goes, the sound of music and that Ruth always hits exactly. Even if they sometimes make "noise" must she always finds the necessary respect and ensured that the working atmosphere is always pleasant, fair and humorous.
support on Babytag, which takes place once a week, is also a key from me. Every Thursday come from far and mothers with their babies for weight control and the necessary vaccinations. The mothers sometimes run more than an hour to get to the hospital, which is however worthwhile for them. You pay 50 Kenyan shillings, the equivalent of £ 1. And a very good professional and get treatment for their children! In those days, the waiting room is bursting at the troubles. It's amazing how many mothers and children visit the hospital! In this Which is also the family planning, which is another important part. Still is to prevent a taboo subject and many women have between 6 to 8 children and can sometimes not for all concerned because they have been abandoned by their husbands and or have no income. Which raises the spiral does not have to explain further. More important is the family planning, which consists mainly of information, the distribution of condoms and surgical ligation. Thus enabling the Rhine Valley Hospital that come every 3 months Marie Stopes can pass. This is an organization that will free women and men in surgical hospitals in derogation. It consists of a surgical team that women and men are informed and thereafter binds in a short procedure. A great thing! Sorry to say but that men are seen very rarely. The reason is often the level of knowledge and of course the historical and cultural background. Often they believe that if they were to do that, they are impotent and or limited in their masculinity. Unfortunately, in the minds of men still believe that it is about the number of children defined and even in old age has to prove it! The tradition and culture are deeply rooted in Kenya and is a key factor that changes and improvements are difficult to implement. But this very different culture and traditions are am appealing to this country and I am more pleased to have an insight into that other world and am excited about things to come! -Corinne Jeker
